Technical Help & FAQs

Everything you need to know about your new flooring.

Measuring & Ordering

Q: How do I accurately measure my room for a carpet?
A: Measure the maximum length and width at the widest points of your room, including any doorways or recessed areas. We strongly recommend adding 10cm (4 inches) to both the length and width to allow for trimming and cutting during installation.

Q: What does “Dye Lot” mean and why does it matter?
A: Carpets are produced in large batches. There can be a slight color variation between different batches. To ensure a perfect color match, always order all the carpet required for a single area at the same time.

Product Specifications

Q: Do I need a separate underlay?
A: Yes, for most of our ranges, a high-quality underlay is essential. It not only provides a softer feel underfoot but also increases the carpet’s lifespan and improves thermal and acoustic insulation.

Q: Are your carpets suitable for underfloor heating?
A: Many of our products are compatible. Look for the “TOG rating” in the product specifications; generally, a combined TOG (carpet + underlay) of under 2.5 is suitable for underfloor heating systems.

Heavy Goods Delivery

Q: Will the delivery driver carry the carpet upstairs?
A: Our standard delivery is Kerbside Only. Due to the extreme weight of flooring rolls and insurance limitations, drivers cannot enter your property. Please ensure you have at least two able-bodied people available to assist with moving the carpet inside.

Q: What if my street is too narrow for a large delivery truck?
A: Please inform us immediately after ordering if your property has restricted access. We can coordinate with smaller delivery vehicles for a specialized fee.

Aftercare

Q: Does ComfortFloor provide professional fitting services?
A: We are a product supplier and do not provide direct installation. We recommend hiring a certified professional to ensure your warranty remains valid.

Q: How do I remove initial “shedding” from my new carpet?
A: It is normal for new cut-pile carpets to shed small fibers. This will stop after a few weeks of regular vacuuming. Use a vacuum with a beater bar for cut-pile and a suction-only vacuum for loop-pile carpets.
